Coronavirus news live - 209 dead and care worker accused of 'spreading germs'

Another 209 people are confirmed to have died of coronavirus across the UK, with NHS England today recording 183 more deaths in hospitals.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that some patients admitted to hospital with coronavirus could be given the drug remdesivir, which has been shown to shorten recovery time.

The drug, an anti-viral medicine originally developed to fight ebola, will be prescribed to patients in the UK from today if there is a likelihood it will help them.
