Two turkeys and three sheep - described by heartbroken staff as "family" - have been stolen from an animal sanctuary.

Turkeys Trevor and Clarissa and sheep Rose, Florence and Minnie were snatched in a late night raid at Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Catholic Lane, Sedgley, on Monday night, May 26.

The intruders overcame 6ft fencing to steal the animals, which were all elderly and expected to see out their days at the popular visitor attraction.

"These are all old animals, some of which were undergoing special care/treatment and will continue to need this from us. Pleas keep your eyes peeled and if you hear of any turkeys or sheep somewhere that they should not be, please get in touch with us straight away.

"If any of our neighbours saw or heard anything suspicious last night, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us! All we care about is trying to get them back here safe.

"These are not just turkeys and sheep; they are family to us. They are Trevor, Clarissa, Rose, Florence and Minnie.

"Trevor is a Slate Grey Turkey and Clarissa is a Norfolk Black. Rose, Florence and Minnie are all Soay type ewes; Rose and Florence both have curved horns and Mini has short stubby horns. All are quite skittish. They are old and starting to look it – they need us."

Sharon Hipkiss added: "Why on earth would anyone do this? Sick minded twisted people, I pray for their safe return."
