Bosses looking for ways to keep I'm A Celebrity on air this year
Travel and production in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic will be very difficult
by Neil ShawThe production team behind I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here is looking for ways to keep the show on air this year in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports management have held a number of meetings to come up with a plan to ensure the popular show can go ahead.
Proposed moves include hiring 95 per cent of the production crew in Australia - so people wouldn't need to be flown from the UK.
But that would still mean the hosts and celebrities would have to travel.
A source told The Sun: "This would mean a lot of the show’s UK crew missing out on their annual big gig but ITV are having to seriously consider every option.
"The changing nature of the crisis means that every situation is having to be assessed and planned for.
"It’s such a ratings hit, so they’ll do everything possible to make sure it goes on air.
"But the safety and welfare of their teams is the priority at all times."
A spokesman for ITV said it was "too early" to discuss plans.
