Cops close two major Scots bridges amid 'ongoing incident'

Cops closed two Scots bridges amid an ' ongoing incident ' this morning.

The Clackmananshire Bridge and the nearby Kincardine Bridge were shut off in both directions.

It is unclear exactly what the disturbance has been.

The Clackmananshire Bridge has since been reopened in both directions although it is currently unclear about the Kincardine bridge.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge are both currently closed in both directions at present due to an ongoing Police incident.

"A statement with more details will be issued shortly."

One local resident took to Twitter to say she had been "woken up by the sound of police helicopters and sirens circling the area".

Traffic Scotland also tweeted about the closures to warn motorists.

At 7.42am they wrote: ""The Clackmannanshire Bridge is closed in both directions due to a police incident."

And they later said: "A985 Kincardine Bridge - Closure, All lanes closed in both directions."

At 8.50am Traffic Scotland confirmed the first bridge had been reopened in both directons.
