Himachal Pradesh Police has booked a senior Congress leader, three councillors and 16 others for violating the Epidemic Diseases Act and obstructing the cremation of a coronavirus patient who died on Monday.

The Congress leader has been identified as Mandi district chief of Mahila Congress Suman Chaudhary who along with three councillors and 16 others have been booked under various sections of IPC and Epidemic Disease Act.

Police officials said that the Congress leader along with others, most of them residents of Kansa and Tanwa villages, came on the road and blocked passage leading to the cremation grounds and obstructed the way of the ambulance carrying the body of the woman who died of coronavirus.

CONGRESS IN THE DOCK

Double speak of Congress leader Suman Chaudhary has not only brought shame to the state but also put the party in the dock.

The Congress leader while on one hand expressed concern for coronavirus warriors on social media by saying “Corona ko harana hai, manvata ko bachana hai (defeat corona to save humanity)” on the other objected to the cremation of a lady woman who died of the virus.

The 63-year-old kidney patient died after contacting coronavirus at the Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College Nerchowk in Mandi on Monday. Her body was being taken to her native place to perform the last rites on Tuesday when the Congress leader and her supporters created a ruckus.

This is not the first time when cremation of a coronavirus patient has been obstructed in Himachal Pradesh. Earlier in Hamirpur also locals had objected to the cremation of a coronavirus patient.
