5.31 lakh persons arrested for not following rules

Chennai: As many as 5,36,792 persons were arrested for defying norms of social distancing in the State.

A press release from the DGP’s office said that until this morning, 5,03,535 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts,

Even as several relaxations have been made in the fourth phase of Covid-19 induced lockdown, police in all districts have been taking to task those who step out for non-essential purposes.

As many as 4,25,064 vehicles were seized by the police. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner. A total amount of Rs 8,09,28,684 has collected from violators as fines.
