The presidency has finally broken silence on the purported media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of his late chief of staff, Abba Kyari.
Garba Shehu, senior media aide to the president, dusted off the growing insinuation spreading in the media, saying the reports are just fabrication and lie flying in the face of fact.
In a tweet on Tuesday, May 26, Shehu said there is no iota of truth in the report that President Buhari "has cancelled a number of memos and appointments" made by Kyari.
"The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled a number of memos and appointments signed off by his former Chief of Staff.
"Not surprisingly, these reports have quoted unnamed sources," Shehu said in the tweet.
He further explained that as the duly democratically-elected president, Buhari has never ceded constitutional power to his aides.
He urged Nigeria to ignore the reports, stressing that President Buhari was elected to by Nigerians to serve them.
"There is not a grain of truth in these reports and Nigerians should please ignore the insinuations behind them.
"President Buhari was duly re-elected by Nigerians in February 2019. He has not and will never cede to anyone else, that power and trust given to him by the Nigerian people," the presidential aide further submitted.
