The Kano state government said that the viral video footage on social media about Sani Abacha Stadium (SAS) isolation centre, Kofar Mata, initiated by Coalition Against COVID (CACOVID), was a mischievous attempt to discredit the project.

Daily Trust reports that a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said there was no iota of truth in whatever the video clips attempted to portray.

Legit.ng gathered that Garba described the action as “mischievously attempting to misrepresent facts on the ongoing installation works at the centre.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the food palliatives sent to Kano state by the federal government were reportedly left rotten at open space and are being beaten by rain and sun.

It was reported that the food items meant to be distributed to vulnerable and less privileged include 5,318 metric tonnes of rice; 2,438 metric tonnes of maize; 1,380 metric tonnes of millet and 900 metric tonnes of Sorghum.

Some of the items have been soaked by rain because they were left unattended in an open space. According to a source, the consignments have spent more than one week unattended to.

In another report, some northern governors came under serious heat for lifting the induced ban they earlier placed on religious gathering so as to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitri.

In states like Kano and Nasarawa, a lot of Muslims were seen in large gatherings observing the Eid prayers publicly with no regard to the rules on social distancing.

This violation of safety and precautionary directives came after the state governments relaxed the lockdown so that Muslim faithful can take part in the religious festival.
