Myer Ballarat shoppers evacuated onto Sturt Street

by

Ballarat's Myer store has been evacuated on its first day back since the end of March.

About 50 people were evacuated onto Sturt Street due to smoke, with reports indicating it may have been coming from the basement storage area.

Firefighters inside the historic Sturt Street building have conducted a further sweep of the first and second floors and storage area and have confirmed no fire has spread to those areas.

Firefighters are now working to ventilate the basement and ground floor area.
