Is Leclerc ready for the world title? "I still have a long way to go''

by

Charles Leclerc with his multi-year contract and the expiring contract of Sebastian Vettel is the man for Ferrari and so all hopes of the Tifosi are focused on a world title of the young Monegask, but is that already possible?

Leclerc made his debut in Formula 1 in 2018 after an impressive season in Formula 2, where he brilliantly won the title as a rookie. As Ferrari-junior he was given the opportunity in 2018 at Alfa Romeo, where he managed to impress the Ferrari leadership so much that he was offered the seat of Kimi Raikkonen in 2019.

Leclerc on his way to a title

Leclerc was able to reward the confidence, because not the experienced Vettel, but Leclerc was mostly on pole and was the first of the two men in red to win. At the end of the season Leclerc stood on more points and received a reward in the form of a new long-term contract.

''I still have a lot of work to do to become world champion, but I am satisfied with my development. I hope that one day I will be able to compete for the title, but it's still a long way to go'', says Leclerc to Sky Italia about that. Ferrari didn't seem to be great in the 2020 winter tests, so whether a title in 2020 is there yet is questionable.
