Bruno Fernandes reacts to first Man Utd training session with Paul Pogba

Bruno Fernandes has got pulses racing at Man Utd after firing a message to teammate Paul Pogba following their first training session together.

United fans have been eagerly awaiting a link-up between the star midfielders, but have had to remain patient while Pogba recovers from injury.

Now back to full fitness, the Frenchman has returned to training along with the rest of the United squad after the enforced coronavirus break.

He was pictured during Tuesday's session training alongside Fernandes, who later sent fans into meltdown by posting the snap on his personal Instagram account.

Tagging Pogba in the image of them both laying on the floor doing strength exercises, Fernandes added a fireworks emoji, perhaps teasing a sign of things to come.

United have been operating under strict safety protocol for sessions at their Carrington training base.

In line with the rest of the Premier League, clubs have only just begun training in small groups of up to five.

As a result, Fernandes and Pogba had, until Tuesday, not yet worked together.

Fans reacted on social media with excitement, as one United supporter wrote: "Finally we get to see Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes training pics, the league should just resume already."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seemingly equally as positive about the prospect of having both players at his disposal.

Asked whether he could fit both players into his lineup, Solskjaer told Sky Sports earlier this month: "Good players can always play together, so definitely, they can - it's a big yes.

"I think it's exciting... we do have an exciting squad. I've got Scott (McTominay), Fred, Nemanja (Matic). There's many games coming up and I'm sure we can find a good connection between them. We've been discussing that as a coaching team of course, and we're looking forward to it."

Matic also joined Pogba and Fernandes in Tuesday's session, and was involved in a passing and shooting drill.

There has been speculation over where Solskjaer will play Pogba and Fernandes, with some believing the Portuguese star could be utilised in a no.10 role.

However the MEN report that Matic's role in the drill suggests he could be deployed at the base of a three-man midfield behind both players, though it's difficult to tell at this stage, given neither Fred nor McTominay were present in the session.
