Russia Reports Record One-Day Rise in Coronavirus Deaths

Officials reported 8,915 new cases on Tuesday, pushing its overall case tally to 362,342.

Also, Germany’s government and state premiers agreed to extend social distancing restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic until June 29, a senior government official said on Tuesday.
The agreement follows a row between federal and state authorities over how fast to ease lockdown measures that have helped Europe’s most populous country weather the outbreak with a relatively low number of deaths over the past two months.
The Australia recorded its youngest victim of COVID-19 after a 30-year-old man with underlying health conditions died in Queensland state, having shown symptoms of the disease for weeks but without getting tested, officials said on Wednesday.
The latest case brings to 103 the number of deaths recorded in Australia, from more than 7,100 cases. The island continent been among the most successful nations to contain the coronavirus spread, which officials attribute to early travel restrictions, social distancing measures and widespread testing.
