Realme to soon setup its own SMT lines in India for Smart TVs

Realme recently launched its first smart TV in the Indian market, dubbed as Realme Smart TV, with a starting price of ₹12,999 (~$171). Now, the company’s executive has confirmed that it will soon set up SMT lines for Realme Smart TVs in India.

The SMT or Surface-mount technology is a method in which the electronic circuit is produced by directly mounting the components on the surface of the PCBs. Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India said that the company is investing in a full production line — from basic components to panel assembling and SMT.

He further added that for Realme smartphones, the company started SMT assembling from day 1. As for the capacity, the company can manufacture 3.5 million smartphone devices per month and can increase that up to 40-45 million a year.

The Realme Smart TV comes in two models — 32-inch and 43-inch, offering HD Ready and Full HD screen resolution respectively. The devices are powered by a Mediatek chipset, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 24W quad-speaker setup, Chroma Boost Picture Engine, and Android TV 9 operating system with built-in popular content apps.

Madhav Sheth also confirmed that the company will soon launch its flagship smart TV. While he has not revealed many details about it, the product is likely to be a 55-inch model of the Realme Smart TV which could have 4K screen resolution support.

As for growing the company’s business in India, Realme is expanding its distribution channels to even tier-IV and tier-V towns. The company believes that offline shops are the backbone of the country’s retail business.

It plans to cover more than 35,000 mobile stores across the country with more than 5,000 promoters, 400 distributors. The firm is also planning to make significant investments in training promoters, store branding, and mass media marketing.
