Firstly, then, what do you make of Everton hopefully returning to Premier League action next month behind-closed-doors?
It’s all a bit mad isn’t it?
The thought of our players playing in an empty Goodison, if we are allowed to play at our home ground that is sounds crazy to me.
We are living in a strange world at the minute though. The main focus and concern of course is making sure everybody is safe and well and that there is no risk in playing these matches.
We’ve seen in the Bundesliga how these games are being played and handled and I praise them for how they are managing it but there will always be that risk.
Adding cardboard cut-out fans into the stadium, chants and noises being played over the PA system and even a new idea of having supporters in the stands via Zoom calls could all become the new normality that we will have to accept but I for one can’t wait till I can get back to Goodison.
Even during lockdown the transfer rumour mill has continued to churn. Any names catching your eye that you want to see Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands sign?
So many names have been thrown around, new names each day it seems. James Rodriguez is a name that keeps appearing that I would probably take on a loan deal and see how that turns out.
Central midfield is an area I think Everton need to look to invest as I still think Everton are missing that creative midfielder who can run with the ball and bring it forward and attack the opposition.
Adrien Rabiot at Juventus is another name that comes up often, there is quality there in Rabiot it’s just his questionable attitude that could be an issue. Something Everton need to sort out desperately, I feel, is a new right back and a right winger.
We have our options on the left in Lucas Digne and Bernard but our options on the right are slim or not very inspiring. Djibril Sidibe hasn’t done the best of jobs since signing on loan and Theo Walcott is pretty much our only right winger.
Moise Kean was in the news for the wrong reasons during lockdown and has been linked with a move away in the summer. What do you think comes next for Moise?
With his off-field troubles becoming headline news and one goal to his name this season it hasn’t been a great start for him at Everton.
Carlo Ancleotti I think is the perfect manager to try get the very best out of Moise Kean, we know that Ancelotti is a fan of him and I think if Moise gets his head down and starts taking his chances I think he could really come good for us.
There is a player there with a lot of skill and he can finish too. He just needs time. He is still only 20 so lets not write him off.
It's not just incomings, though. Are there any current first-team members that need clearing from the wage bill?
This isn’t Carlo Ancleotti’s Everton squad, in an ideal world he would of been our manager from the very start of the season and he would of had a summer transfer window with Marcel Brands to sign and sell players.
Morgan Schneiderlin is a player I would look to get rid of this summer, with the wages he is supposedly on and his contributions I have seen over time I just don’t think he merits stay in the squad, I did like Schneiderlin but have reached the end of the road with him.
If we can get rid of the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun then I would as I think we need to be aiming higher and better.
What about the work Everton have been doing off-the-field since the outbreak of coronavirus? Are you proud of the community commitments and Blue Family campaign?
Everton as always are one of the worlds best off the pitch. All of the work you read about that the club have done with the Blue Family campaign really makes you proud to say that you are an Everton fan, it really doesn’t surprise you how they have acted.
Everton is the People’s Club and yet again they have showed it. Everyone who has worked on the Blue Family campaign from Everton In The Community and the club as a whole should be very proud of themselves of all of the good they have been doing!
Lastly, how confident are you, with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, that the future is bright for Everton?
I don’t think there is one Everton fan out there at the minute that is feeling somewhat negative that we have one of the world’s best ever football managers as our manager.
If you had told me at the start of last year that Carlo Ancelotti would be Everton manager I wouldn’t have believed you for a second.
We are very lucky to have such a man in charge and I have no doubt in my mind that under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands that we have a bright future ahead of us and hopefully sometime soon he can lead us to some silverware
