Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and West Brom set to learn major EFL update today
Today's EFL members meeting is expected to be followed by an official statement from chief Rick Parry.
by Tom LeachNottingham Forest are expected to receive a major update from the EFL today on plans to bring back the 2019-20 Championship campaign.
This afternoon, the EFL board will meet to discuss a range of topics from the second division's return to action to the future of League One and League Two football clubs.
And that meeting is expected to be followed by an official statement from chief Rick Parry.
Parry will also send plans to change EFL regulations that will make standard PPG part of the league's rules to all 71 clubs with a vote on whether or not to implement it set to be staged over the coming days.
As we await today's news, here are the biggest headline surrounding Forest's return to action...
PLAYERS SET FOR LONG ISOLATION PERIOD
Forest and their EFL colleagues will today be told that their players will have to stay away from training for 14 days if a member of their household tests positive for coronavirus.
That's according to a report from The Telegraph that claims that Championship action is set to resume in June under coronavirus protection guidelines stricter than first imagined.
Five scenarios for players with symptoms or a positive test are believed to have been drawn up by the EFL and will be discussed further during tomorrow's weekly board meeting.
One of these scenarios asks how long players who are showing no symptoms for the virus but live with an individual who has tested positive should stay away from the training ground.
FOREST WILL HAVE HUGE SAY ON RULE CHANGE VOTE
Forest will also learn key details about proposed changes to EFL regulations today - something they will soon vote on.
That vote seeks to provide clarity to clubs as to how, in extraordinary circumstance such as the coronavirus crisis, league tables will be finalised.
EFL boss Rick Parry last week laid out his plan to write PPG into the rules of the sport for good and during tomorrow's EFL board meetings that plan will be finalised and sent to all 71 clubs, NottinghamshireLive understands.
The challenge facing football's oldest governing body is an unprecedented one with the sport yet to have ever faced the dilemma of seeking a fair way to conclude a league season that is so close to its climax.
His plan promised to honour promotion and relegation across all three EFL divisions using standard points-per-game to finalise the table, despite League Two voting 20 to four in favour of blocking Stevenage's drop our of the league.
The framework also silenced those calling for an eight-team play-off in League One and made clear that there would only be four teams doing battle for those final promotion spots, expected to be staged at Wembley, in July.
WHEN WILL THE TRANSFER WINDOW OPEN?
The summer transfer window looks set to take on a very different look for Nottingham Forest and their Championship rivals this year, with the coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc on the sporting calendar.
With 'Project Restart' given the go-ahead for next month, it is hoped the 2019/20 season will resume soon - although currently that would see it clash with the opening of the transfer market.
And with a number of issues still to be concluded on how the campaign will finish, the window could be set for some big changes in order to accommodate clubs.
HERE IS EVERYTHING WE CURRENTLY KNOW about the summer transfer window and the changes that could be in the pipeline.
