1.51 lakh coronavirus cases in India: 6,387 new cases, 170 deaths in 24 hours

With over 6,300 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India's case tally rose to 1,51,767 on Wednesday. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said 170 people died in the last 24 hours.

The number of the novel coronavirus cases in India reached 1,51,767 on Wednesday morning with 6,387 new infections reported in the last 24 hours.

The death toll due to the deadly disease rose to 4,337 after 170 more fatalities in 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As per the updated figures by the Health Ministry, spike of 6,387 new Covid-19 cases and 170 deaths in the last 24 hours took the total number of cases in the country to 1,51,767.

These included 83,004 active cases, while 64,425 have recovered or discharged.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra has the highest number of Covid-19 cases with 54,758. Tamil Nadu has 17,728 cases with Gujarat at 14,821 cases. Delhi reported 14,465 cases of coronavirus.

India on Tuesday recorded 6,535 new coronavirus cases. The total number of coronavirus cases in India stood at 1,45,380 with 4,167 deaths on Tuesday.

The Health Ministry said 60,491 people were cured or discharged after treatment.
