Chennai: The Tamilnadu government, which is planning more relaxations to the lockdown restrictions, is planning to resume the operation of public transport- train and bus services.

According to sources, non-AC train services in four routes — Coimbatore – Mayiladuturai, Villupuram – Madurai, Tiruchi – Nagercoil and Katpadi – Coimbatore would commence soon and officials are taking steps to ensure social distancing and other necessary measures.

Likewise, bus services would also be allowed soon. It is learnt that the State government recently requested the Centre to run non-AC special trains within Tamilnadu, connecting important railway stations, other than Chennai Egmore and Tambaram.

Based on this, the Southern Railway has sought permission from the Railway Board to run four trains.
