Two men have now been arrested over the alleged heartless robbery of a wheelchair-bound man at an ATM in Sydney’s CBD.

The 42-year-old man, who suffers from spastic diplegia (paraplegia) cerebral palsy, was withdrawing money in Haymarket last Sunday, when he noticed two young men in the enclosed alcove area where the machine was situated.

After completing the withdrawal from the ATM, police say the man was allegedly approached by one of the men who snatched the cash from his hands.

The two men then ran from the scene, while witnesses rushed to the victim’s aid and called police.

Thankfully, the man managed to escape uninjured.

Following a public appeal and the release of CCTV footage yesterday, detectives arrested a a 20-year-old man at Green Valley Police Station about 3.15pm on Tuesday and charged him with steal from person.

The second man, a 20-year-old from Riverwood, was arrested around 9.30am this morning and is expected to be charged today.
