Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu has been sworn in as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo today May 26, 2020 at the Jubilee House in Accra
The renowned legal academic and activist had worked mostly as a teacher of the Law at the University of Ghana.
At the swearing in ceremony, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his excitement at being the President to swear her in as a deserving Supreme Court judge.
“I am happy to be the President who swore her into office as a Justice of the Supreme Court. The appointment, I have no doubt, will help strengthen the development of the Court’s jurisprudence and case law,” the President noted.
The President reiterated that Prof Mensa-Bonsu had met the specific requirements to be a Supreme Court justice as spelt out by the Constitution.
“You have met the stringent requirements of Article 128 clause (4) of the Constitution, and have exhibited the independence of spirit, proven integrity, high moral character, and impartiality of mind to hold this high office,” the President stressed.
