COVID-19: Kulgam man dies of coronavirus, JK toll 24

A 90-year-old man from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district died of COVID-19 at SKIMS, Srinagar on Tuesday, taking J&K’s death toll to 24.
The man was referred from Government Medical College, Anantnag Monday afternoon and admitted to SKIMS with pneumonia besides having chest pain.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the man was battling in the isolation ward overnight.
“He died Tuesday morning. His samples have returned positive for COVID-19,” he said.
Kulgam district has so far reported four deaths, while 227 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus.
It has 209 active cases while 15 patients have recovered.
With the fresh death, the death toll due to COVID-19 in J&K has soared to 24 that include 21 from Kashmir division and three from Jammu.
Srinagar has reported six deaths, followed by Anantnag, Baramulla and Kulgam with four each, Budgam two and Bandipora one.
Jammu has witnessed two deaths and Udhampur one.
