Four pregnant women among 96 fresh cases in JK, tally rises to 1759
by Mansoor Peer Four pregnant women including three from Baramulla are among 37 cases that tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir on Tuesday while Jammu reported 54 cases, bringing J&K’s infection tally to 1759.
At the microbiology lab of the Chest Disease (CD) Hospital, Srinagar, 590 samples were tested during the past 24 hours of which 25 returned positive.
Nodal Officer for COVID-19 measures, GMC Srinagar, Dr M Salim Khan said 14 cases including three pregnant women are from Baramulla.
“In Baramulla, the three pregnant women are from Sopore, Tengpora and Baramulla,” he said. “Eight cases including four women are from Hardu-Ichloo, Tangmarg.”
Five cases are from Bandipora, four including a pregnant woman from Kangan are 1from Ganderbal and two from Pulwama.
He said, on Tuesday, the CD Hospital lab received 230 samples while 100 samples are under process and awaiting results.
The coronavirus testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital (MCH) Bemina tested 471 samples of which 19 returned positive.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Reya Untoo said 12 are from Budgam including seven from Magam, four from Soibugh, and one from Narbal.
He said six cases were from Srinagar including three from Alamgari Bazaar and two from Hawal. One case is from Kathua.
At the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS Srinagar, the COVID-19 update was pending till evening.
However, the government said of the 1,40,962 test results available, 1,39,203 returned negative and 1759 positive which include 902 active positive cases while 833 have recovered and been discharged including 24 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 1,42,901 persons had been put under observation including 32,714 in home quarantine, 902 in hospital isolation, and 62 in hospital quarantine while 33,573 people are under home surveillance and 75,626 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Anantnag has 278 cases, followed by Kulgam with 228, Srinagar 189, Kupwara 166, Bandipora 143, Baramulla 143, Shopian 129, Budgam 76, Ganderbal 31 and Pulwama 28.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 109 positive cases followed by Ramban with 74, Kathua 53, Udhampur 39, Samba 39, Rajouri 13, Poonch 12, Reasi nine, Kishtwar eight and Doda two.
J&K has so far recorded 24 deaths to coronavirus of which 21 were reported from Kashmir and three others from Jammu division.
