JK residents being ignored under ‘Vande Bharat Mission’
In additional 500 flights, no name of JK in list, Over 800 residents still stranded in Dubai
by Irfan YattooOver 900 inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir are stranded still stranded in Dubai; United Arab Emirates (UAE) and several cities of Kazakhstan and have urged GOI to add J&K under ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ list so that they can reach to their homes.
As per reports still hundreds of laborers, employees, patients and families from several areas of Kashmir working in Dubai are stranded and have urged Government of India to J&K UT in a list of evacuated passengers.
Aamir Rafiq, a local from Srinagar stranded in Dubai told Rising Kashmir that they are running short of resources and are facing immense hardships.
Rafiq, it was unfortunate that J&K residents have been ignored in part 2 of ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ under which 500 additional flights would take Indian citizens to back from Dubai.
“As per the officials at Indian Consulate in Dubai which stated that there is no flight under Vande Bharat Mission for stranded J&K residents in Dubai,” he said.
Rafiq said it was unfortunate that apart from J&K, all states and UT’s were mentioned in the list. J&K administration should pressure GOI to evacuate other remaining people in the city.
“We need at least 04 lights as more than 800 people from J&K are still stranded in the city. We are helpless and running out of resources,” he said.
Another group of distressed J&K residents stranded at Kazakhstan told Rising Kashmir that in additional flights there is no name of JK in the list.
Sabrina Bano, who is stranded along with 100 other JK residents in Kazakhstan said despite repeated pleas to Indian administration, things have remained unchanged on the ground.
“Although GOI has launched Vande Bharat Mission for stranded passengers but there is no mention of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Earlier this month, GOI announced it would begin repatriating Indians stranded around the world because of the Covid-19 crisis from May 26 to June 06
They JK residents have appealed to the Lt. Governor led administration and central governments to repatriate them.
