Omar tries to put house in order

Censures Ruhullah, Sadiq for going public
Says committed to challenge Art 370 repeal legally

A day after two senior National Conference (NC) leaders resorted to verbal brawl on social media over the party's approach to deal with the situation post abrogation of Article 370, former chief minister and NC vice-president Omar Abdullah Tuesday said the party was committed to challenge what happened on August 5 by using all lawful means.
On May 24, a close aide and political advisor of Omar Abdullah, Tanvir Sadiq in a write up had asked GoI to release all political prisoners arrested post-August 5, revisit domicile law, and lift all curbs on the internet.
However, his views evoked sharp reaction from the chief spokesman of the party and three-time MLA from Budgam Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.
“Revisit domicile law? Lift curbs on Internet? “LET” political process be run? Is that all what you are looking for in this reconciliation? If I am not reading wrong, you are basically asking for 4G and THEIR ‘PERMISSION’ to let us start the political process? & then all is well (sic)?” Ruhullah tweeted.
He went on to question Tanvir about the political process he was referring to.
“This provokes a question in my mind. What is the political process for you? Only an election? If we go with a reason and stand our course, even being detained is a part of the political process. But yes, it depends on your objectives. And sorry, it’s insulting to ask THEM to let us (sic),” he tweeted.
Ruhullah, who is under house detention, said their “hands and thoughts are not tied” as is being perceived by some people.
“They are doing a job. Our hands aren’t tied. Our thoughts aren’t tied. If the objective is not only elections, we are only in a political process. Asking them to 'let' us start means doing only what they want us to do,” he said.
Taking to Twitter, Omar reacted saying that the views of the two, expressed in a private capacity, do not change the stand NC had taken in the Supreme Court and outside regarding the repeal of Article 370.
"@RuhullahMehdi & @tanvirsadiq are both valued colleagues & friends. As far as I’m concerned that are both entitled to an opinion & to disagree with each other. Neither’s views, expressed in a private capacity, change the stand NC has taken in the SC & outside regarding 5th Aug (sic)," Omar tweeted.
"I appreciate that people with more time on their hands than usual would like to read more in to this than necessary but that’s just time pass for bored minds. @JKNC_ remains committed to challenging what happened on 5th Aug using all lawful means (sic)," he said.
Terming NC as a wider family in which all shades of opinion are "valued", Omar said, “Sometimes it’s better to discuss things amongst themselves before deciding to make them public.”
"Beyond that we are a democratic party & we value all shades of opinion within our wider family though sometimes it’s better to discuss them amongst ourselves before we decide to make them public. I’ve burnt my hands a few times by not following my own advice (sic)," Omar said.
He also denied rumors of his visit to New Delhi related to any political activity.
"Finally I’m in Delhi for the 1st time since 3rd August 2019. There is nothing political about my visit, whether linked to the matter above or the political advisory council reportedly being formed. I needed a change of scene & some medical follow ups & that’s why I’m here (sic)," Omar tweeted.
