Idris Elba Shines Light On Africa

Hosted by British actor and musician Idris Elba, the two-hour long concert was live-streamed on YouTube and broadcast on MTV Base.
It featured a stellar cast of African superstars like Burna Boy, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Sauti Sol and Diamond Platnumz.
Artists performed in the comfort of their own homes to celebrate their pride in being African and to help raise funds to combat the spread of Covid-19 on the continent.
The event featured tributes by various African and American personalities between performances.
They urged audiences to donate to the World Food Programme and the United Nations Children's Fund.
Before the concert, Elba mentioned the occasion was ideal to highlight the strides African artists have made. He emphasised the importance of standing together in the current crisis.
“This is to take a moment to shine a light on African performers and their work, as well the homeland itself and its people,” he said.
