A MAN allegedly opened fire on his former colleagues at Swakopmund and missed his targets before killing himself.

The Namibian has learnt that the man, Gerson Si Disho (30), went to his former workplace at Mile 4 on Friday where he found his former colleagues and reportedly shot at them.

Si Disho is said to have attempted another round of fire, but his former colleagues had already run for cover, Erongo crime investigations coordinator Erastus Iikuyu says.

The man then left the premises.

Soon thereafter, the police received a report of a suspected suicide at the Swakopmund salt pans just north of Mile 4.

Si Disho's body was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.

A suicide note was found in the deceased's pocket, said Iikuyu, and his next of kin have been informed of his death.

“No foul play is suspected at this stage,” Iikuyu says. He says Si Disho seemed to have had grievances with his former employer. In another incident, Erastus Shihala (41) allegedly committed suicide by drowning in the ocean near Kuisebmond on Friday last week.

His body was discovered near the fuel jetty north of the harbour town.

“The day the victim left home, he allegedly sent numerous messages to relatives saying he had gone to the sea. His clothes, mobile phone and wallet with documents were found at Independence Beach, where it is suspected he walked into the water before he drowned,” Iikuyu says.
