Hyderabad: Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday said the State government was willing to give permission for film and television shootings and also opening of cinema theatres but only after considering all the challenges involved. He said the State government was also planning to come out with good policy for development of entertainment industry to support them in the aftermath of coronavirus pandemic.

In a meeting with representatives of the film and television industry here, Srinivas Yadav said permissions were already issued to carry out pre-production and post-production works which do not require involvement of manpower on a large scale.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will convene a meeting with representatives of the entertainment industry on Thursday to discuss all the issues and come up with a plan for a way forward. The outcome of the meeting will be submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for a final decision.

The Minister made it clear that there was a need to strengthen Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TSFDC) for implemention of various measures involving the film industry. He explained that the Corporation will not only take up award presentation programmes to encourage artistes and technicians, but also initiate measures to strengthen the film industry.
