Weatherman predicts rains over next five days in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After reeling under the scorching sun for more than a week now, the city could get some relief with the Regional Meteorological Centre predicting light to moderate rains for the next five days.

The centre had a week ago issued a warning on heat wave conditions for five days, after which on Wednesday, it said light to moderate rain or thundershowers were very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana for the next five days.

The weather warning also indicated that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds were very likely to occur at a few places over the State on May 30 and 31.

“The conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of the Southwest Monsoon into some parts of Maldives Comorin area and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Andaman Sea and some more parts of South and Central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours,” officials said.

Meanwhile, intense weather conditions prevailing in the city have turned the nights hotter with the minimum temperature on Wednesday rising to 30.6 degree Celsius, which was four degrees above normal while the day temperature on Thursday was 42.3 degree Celsius, which was three degrees above normal.

The area wise temperatures on Thursday, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, had Madhapur recording the highest temperature of 42.6 degree Celsius, followed by Musheerabad and Qutbullapur (42.5 degree Celsius).
