Suryapet reports first corona death

Suryapet: Suryapet reported its first corona death on Wednesday when a four-month-old baby boy succumbed to the virus.

According to a media release issued by District Surveillance Officer for COVID-19, the baby boy, native of Kasarabad in the district, died of COVID-19 at 12 noon while undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad. The boy was also suffering from heart disease. Tests conducted on the boy for coronavirus revealed he was positive on May 26.

Meanwhile, no corona positive case was reported at Huzurnagar in the district as rumors spread in the district. About 15 medical teams conducted health survey and covered 2,500 people during the day.

It is learnt that the mother of the infant went to her parents house at Aipoor for the purpose of delivery a few months ago and returned to her husband’s house at Kasarabad about 15 days back along with the baby boy. More than 10 corona positive cases were reported from Aipoor village.  It is suspected that the boy may have been infected with the virus at Aipoor village. Till May 26, Suryapet district did not have any active corona positive case.
