Convene all-party meet on Pothireddypadu issue: BJP

Khammam: Telangana BJP core committee member and former MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has demanded that the State government convene an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of Pothireddypadu project.

He condemned the reported statement of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that for the water needs of Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasham districts, they would draw the water from Srisailam reservoir at 800 ft level.

In a statement on Wednesday, he said AP government’s move was against the existing norms and acts that were prescribed for utilising Krishna waters. The move would seriously affect the whole of South Telangana. Hence, the government should call for an all-party meeting to discuss the prevailing situation involving Telangana and AP, including recent GO 203.

All the Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs in south Telangana have to come forward to protect the State’s rights and irrigation projects, including drinking water scheme meant to supply water to Hyderabad, Reddy added.
