Watch: Ryan Reynolds Reads ‘James & Giant Peach’ With Taika Waititi For Charity
by Thanussha PriyahTaika Waititi enlisted Ryan Reynolds to read Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach on Monday as part of his James and the Giant Peach live-reading series, which aims to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts.
Waititi himself has been slated to direct two series based on Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Netflix. Now, the filmmaker joins the Roald Dahl Story Company in a live-reading program to raise funds for Partners in Health, a Boston-based nonprofit combating the COVID-19 crisis.
The Roald Dahl Company will match up to US$1 million of fan donations, and its partners will match additional funds should they surpass the US$1 million mark.

Waititi will pair with several celebrities to read through James and the Giant Peach on YouTube. This week, Reynolds took the baton to read a section of the story.
Celebrities who previously narrated the classic book with Waititi included Chris and Liam Hemsworth, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, and Benedict Cumberbatch. New episodes of the series will be available on the official Roald Dahl YouTube channel on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until the book is complete.
