Advisory Fuel Rates (AFR) decrease from June 1 2020
by Matt de PrezHMRC has reduced the advisory fuel rates (AFR) for all engine sizes and fuel type, effective from June 1.
The new rates include a reduction for petrol and LPG vehicles up to 2,000cc of 2ppm.
Drivers of petrol vehicles up to 1,400cc can now claim 10ppm (6ppm LPG), while those with vehicles between 1,401 and 2,000cc can claim 12ppm (8ppm LPG).
Petrol and LPG vehicles above 2,000cc have a larger reduction of 3ppm to 17ppm and 11ppm respectively.
For diesel vehicles the AFRs reduce by 1ppm for vehicles of 1,600cc or less, to 8ppm. For diesel vehicles above 2,000cc the AFR has also decreased by 1ppm to 12ppm
Diesel vehicles between 1,601cc and 2,000cc have an AFR that is 2ppm lower, now 9ppm.
The Advisory Electricity Rate (AER) for fully electric cars remains at 4ppm.
These rates apply from June 1 2020. The previous rates can be used for up to one month from the date the new rates apply.
