Manhattan’s Marea Makes Its Way To The Hamptons
by Melissa Kravitz HoeffnerNew York City restaurants haven’t stopped innovating in the wake of ongoing pandemic restrictions. And as New Yorkers head out east for the warmer months, New York’s new ways of high-end dining will follow. A new spin-off of Manhattan’s Michelin starred Marea, Marea in the Hamptons, will allow Manhattanites and Hamptonites alike to enjoy chef Michael White’s acclaimed Italian fare, miles away from the restaurant itself. The new launch will mark the Altamarea Group’s first official foray into Hamptons dining.
Starting this week, Marea in the Hamptons, a signature meal kit of fresh, high quality ingredients designed to be enjoyed al fresco this summer, will be offered for pickup out east.
Marea’s new package offer a Michelin-star level dinner kit for four, designed to be prepared at Hamptons homes. The menu will change weekly, but will include appetizers, sides, main dishes, as well as a dessert, all with a simple recipe guide on how to prepare each item.
The first week’s menu includes heirloom tomato and burrata, green bean salad, an entree choice of fresh branzino or 12 oz strip steak (or half of each protein), potato gratin, asparagus, and a seasonal pie. All necessary ingredients, as well as instructions for preparation and plating will be included in the kit.
Future menus will take advantage of the spirit of summer, as well as the abundance of local produce and seafood for dishes like stone fruit salad with ricotta salata; grill packages with skewered shrimp, scallops, calamari, chicken; baked pastas; antipasti options, and more.
“One of the things we miss most about our current take-out and to-go operation is bringing people together to celebrate- even just a celebration of daily life,” says Chef Lauren DeSteno, Executive Chef of Altamarea Group. “By providing our guests with a curated meal, we hope that we can create an environment for them to safely & responsibly) celebrate life and loved ones…without the stress of planning a meal. We’ll create the menu, you create the memories.”
