AEW Dynamite Results: News, Notes As Former WWE Duo Dax Harwood And Cash Wheeler Arrive
by Alfred KonuwaAEW Dynamite featured the long-awaited arrival of FTR, formerly known as The Revival, which teased tension with The Young Bucks without getting physical. Now in AEW, it’s only a matter of time before an already inevitable dream tag team matchup between FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and The Young Bucks.
AEW was main-evented by the Inner Circle pep rally amid the faction’s recent loss at Double or Nothing’s Stadium Stampede. The segment concluded when Chris Jericho demanded an apology from Mike Tyson, only for the two to recreate the iconic shoving match-turned-brawl between Mike Tyson and Steve Austin in 1998.
Wednesday’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite garnered 701,000 viewers compared to 592,000 to WWE NXT.

Matt Hardy and The Young Bucks def. Joey Janela and Private Party; FTR Debuts
Though he wore his purple tights and kick pads ironically, this version of Matt Hardy was the best ring gear he ever wore. I’m always in favor of the pageantry of wrestlers dressing like wrestlers and not like they just got fired from Hot Topic.
Each week in AEW it sounds like more and more people are being let into the building. At this pace, one day the show will quietly sneak 3,000 people in the building and nobody in Florida will bat an eye.
Joey Janela and Shawn Spears should have a feud to see who gets to become the first AEW signee to publicly gripe about his spot with the card.
I was almost hoping FTR (The Revival) would debut wearing their leaked comedy outfits from WWE as an ironic twist. Good to see Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler in AEW.
Britt Baker Names Conspirators of Her Injury
Britt Baker’s injury is a blessing in disguise is she’ll get to cut these great promos for two months and AEW won’t be able to beat her time and again.
If this is the beginning of how obnoxious Britt Baker will be throughout her injury, she’ll be in rare for by the end of June.
Hikaru Shida vs. Christi Jaynes
Christi Jaynes might be the most charismatic enhancement talent to come through AEW yet. The heel dancing gimmick plays.
Excalibur has said “she’s done the deal” for enough finishing maneuvers that whenever he does say it, I’m convinced the match is over. This works great for false finishes.
Cody Speaks After Winning TNT Championship
While discussing why his love for Tom Brady has nothing to do with the Boston area, Cody made sure to note he wasn’t welcomed back in Connecticut. That was cute.
The TNT Championship is slowly turning into slick product placement. Let’s hope the next title AEW commissions isn’t a TBS Title.
Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc def. SCU
SCU, collectively, is a testament to wrestlers in phenomenal shape despite pushing 40.
Kip Sabian’s timing in the ring is impeccable.
AEW spent all those weeks building up Scorpio Sky as a singles performer only to have him and Frankie Kazarian unceremoniously lose to an upstart tag team, with Scorpio Sky taking the pinfall.
Battle Royal to Determine No. 1 Contender for AEW TNT Championship
It’s far too early to tease dissension between MJF and Wardlow as was the case tonight.
If MJF doesn’t win this Battle Royal, does it count as his first loss?
I always assumed Billy Gunn was wearing his gear underneath his street clothes while in the crowd, and it’s good to see I was right.
Luther rag-dolled Marko Stunt, who had an ugly landing.
Between MJF, Wardlow, Billy Gunn and Luchasaurus, this match was filled with body types that WWE would salivate over.
After being eliminated, Billy Gunn returned to the crowd in full gear.
Mike Tyson and Chris Jericho Brawl at Inner Circle Pep Rally
Add The Inner Circle to the list of effective factions that have foreshadowed a possible split.
The Inner Circle’s “Stadium Stampede Champions” t-shirts figure to be a popular piece of AEW merchandise due to the ironic nature of AEW’s fanbase.
If Vickie Guerrero was doing this cheerleading entrance in WWE, Michael Cole would be instructed to make pig noises.
Chris Jericho after Santana revealed advice he got from his abuela: “My abuela says that, too.”
I wouldn’t mind Ortiz working every match in the themed headphones he received as a gift. He always did have a Ric Steiner feel to him.
Jake Hager’s poetry reading doubled as a surprisingly good promo.
Mike Tyson’s goons included Henry Cejudo and Vitor Belfort.
