Steve Kerr, Skylar Diggins Blast Cops Over Death of Minnesota Man (TWEET)
by Darrelle LincolnGolden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr made sure to voice his opinion about the death of a black man who was killed after a Minneapolis police officer put his knee on his neck as the guy screamed that he could not breathe.
The FBI is still investigating the situation, but Kerr called the cop’s actions murder in a tweet on Tuesday.
“This is murder,” Kerr wrote of the man whose cause of death was listed as due to a “medical incident during police interaction.”
“Disgusting. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with US????”
He wasn’t the only one as Phoenix Mercury star Skylar Diggins-Smith also took to Twitter and captioned of photo of the man, George Floyd.
“Same ol shit! RIP George Floyd!”
In a video shared on social media showed Floyd yelling, “I cannot breathe! I cannot breathe!” as bystanders gathered. He said, “Don’t kill me!”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey became emotional as he spoke during a press conference.
“For five minutes we watched as a white officer pressed his knee to the neck of a black man. For five minutes,” Frey said. “When you hear someone calling for help, you are supposed to help. This officer failed in the most basic human sense. What happened … was simply awful.”
Four Minneapolis cops have since been fired.
