Saeima deputy Andris Kazinovskis decides to leave New Conservative Party’s faction
by LETAOne of the New Conservative Party’s (JKP) members Andris Kazinovskis has decided to leave the party’s Saeima faction.
According to JKP faction chairman’s associate Linda Ozola, Kazinovskis’ notification regarding leaving the party’s faction.
Kazinovskis’s proposal has been received by the Saeima Praesidium.
Kazinovskis was very actively involved in the development of the administrative territorial reform law, submitting a number of proposals for all readings of the legislative draft, but he received no support from the coalition or his own faction.
Today, when the Saeima started working on the administrative territorial reform, Kazinovskis participated in debates multiple times, urging colleagues in the parliament to support his proposal, but he failed to secure it.
Kazinovskis said he was invited to run in Saeima elections because since 1996 he has worked with territorial reform affairs. He has also written a number of scientific publications about them.
«I know this topic and I represent the party’s opinion. There was support of my opinion in the context of the regional reform, but now that we had to vote, no support came from the coalition or my faction. This makes it impossible for me to fulfil the promise given to voters,» said the Saeima deputy.
Criticizing the regulation in relation to regional level, which was excluded from the reform, Kazinovskis hopes this segment will be regulated in some way regardless. If JKP Saeima faction deputies rethink the creative situation and if they support his proposal at the next Saeima meeting, Kazinovskis may change his mind about leaving the faction.
