Quarantined family returns to find house burgled
by Vinay DalviAnUlhasnagar-based family that had been quarantined by the local municipal corporation said they returned to find their house broken into and burgled. They told the police that valuables worth Rs 3 lakh were stolen from the house. According to the Ulhasnagar's Central Police station, the incident occurred in Shanti Nagar.
The police said Bina Yadav and her family were sent to a quarantine center located on the Kalyan-Bhiwandi road after a person they had come in contact with tested positive. The Yadav family own a grocery store and the Covid-19 positive person they had come in contact with was a customer who had visited their store. The family was listed among the high-risk contacts. They had left their home on May 11 and returned on May 26.
On Monday, Yadav had asked her uncle to clean their home before they returned. He told her that he found the house broken into when he visited it. “On Tuesday, Yadav lodged a complaint,” said Aslam Khatib, an officer from the Central police station. “We are trying to trace the accused. There are no CCTVs in the area. A case of house breakin has been registered.”
