12 injured in sand mining dispute

At least one dozen people were injured over dispute of sand mining at e Pratappur village around 14 km away from the district headquarter, on Monday evening. Three seriously injured people were referred to RIMS.

An alleged dispute between two groups of minority community over sand mining turned bloody on Monday late evening after miscreants from one of the groups opened fire on the other, leaving four injured in the village under Garhwa police station.

The incident took place around 7 pm when two rival groups of Nesar Khan and Safique Khan came to loggerheads following sand mining. Both the groups levelled charges at each other for disturbing the peace in the area.

Firstly group of Safique attacked on sticks and sharp edged weapon on Nisar group in which Nisar, Idrish, Mahmood and shahid injured. Later one member of Nisar group opened fired on Safique members in which four persons received bullet injury. Critically injured three Kaif, Braquat and Saif  reffered at RIMS. Others injured undergoing treatment at Garhwa hospital.

Two counter FIRs were lodged against each other under various sections of IPC. Police investigation is underway, said PS in-charge Ramod Kumar Singh.
