Over 200 inmates blocked the National Highway-16 in Bhadrak district on Tuesday alleging that they were not provided food at the Temporary Medical Centre (TMC) on Monday night.

The road blockade hit vehicular movement severely as hundreds of vehicles, remained stranded on both sides of the road.

Reports said around 3,400 migrants were kept at Bhadrak Government College quarantine centre when they reached Charampa railway station in the district by a special train on the day.

However, the inmates alleged lack of basic amenities and food at the quarantine centre and squatted on the highway. On being informed, Additional Collector reached the spot and pacified the migrants.

Later, the agitator withdrew the road blockade.
