Staffer, 10 inmates of Rohini Prison recover from corona

Delhi Prison authorities on Tuesday said that one staff member and ten inmates of Rohini jail have recovered and tested negative for Covid-19.

Earlier, Head Wardern of central jail number 10 in Rohini had tested positive for coronavirus on May 15.

"He was asymptomatic and had been kept in government quarantine facility in Sonipat. He has recovered and his test was conducted again in Sonipat which has come negative on Friday," said Sandeep Goel, the Director General, Prisons.

"Doctors have recommended him seven day rest after which he will join his duties," he said.

"Kuldeep Singh Yadav was the first inmate to be detected positive on May 13. Nineteen inmates, who shared barrack with him, were also tested and the results of 15 inmates came positive on May 15," said an official.

"One of those 15 inmates was shifted to LNJP hospital on May 19 due to some swelling in his feet. The rest 14 remained totally asymptomatic," the official said.

"The coronavirus test of the 14 inmates was again conducted on Monday Out of 14, 10 inmates recovered and have tested negative," said the official.

"Earlier, there were 16 inmates and four staff members tested positive. Out of them, 10 inmates and one staff member have been recovered," he added.
