Covid-19 being dealt with effectively in Haryana: CM

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that with the people exercising restraint while following the rules of lockdown, the Covid-19 outbreak in the State is being dealt with effective management by the Government.

He said that the global corona epidemic is an unprecedented period, due to which many challenges were faced by the people, Government and administration in the last two and a half months.

The Chief Minister said this while presiding over a meeting with the officials organised for the Smart City project, in the auditorium of the Small Secretariat in Karnal.

Khattar said that though the corona is not over yet, many good experiences came out during this period. The service spirit of police, doctors and para medical staff, sanitation workers and employees of many departments has become an example.

During corona period, on the instructions of the Central Government, the Chief Minister, other ministers and senior officers sitting in the Chandigarh headquarters had coordinated directly with the officers sitting in districts. Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner in the districts, arrangements made by officers were appreciable.

Khattar said, “Now the Chief Ministers have got permission to visit districts and I have come to Karnal today to review different projects and in the next few days I will again hold another meeting in Karnal.”

During the discussion on the Smart City Project, the agenda of starting various projects of about Rs 300 crores by Karnal Smart City Limited was presented before the Chief Minister.

On this, Khattar said that to make the city smart, planning should be done in such a way that every citizen of the city benefit. Construction of building big walls is not a smart city, but better system of drinking water and sewerage, control of air pollution, rain water harvesting system on government and non-government buildings like school, college and factory; waste management, open Gym in parks among others should be developed. He said, “The smart city meant that the city looked smart in public.”
