83 NRIs return to Chandigarh

As many as 83 non-resident Indians belonging to Chandigarh have returned to the city till now.

Out of these 83 persons, 16 persons have been discharged from the hotels on completion of seven days stay and after they were tested negative. Expatriates from abroad have returned to the city while 70 domestic flyers have arrived in Chandigarh and are advised self-monitoring, as per Central Government’s guidelines, said UT Home Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta on Tuesday.

ollowing the fresh guidelines issued by the Central Government on quarantine and isolation protocols of passengers, the Chandigarh Administration had on Sunday decided to follow the Central rules.

The Centre has guidelines stated that those flying from abroad will have to serve 14-day mandatory quarantine including seven-day paid institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by 7 days of isolation at home.

The accommodation arrangements for the foreign returnees have been made at Hotel Mountview, Hotel Shivalikview, Hotel Hometel, Hotel Red Fox, Hotel Lemon Tree, Hotel The Piccadily, Panchayat Bhawan and Girls Hostel no-10 at Panjab University on per day payment basis.
