Forester caught with Rs 2.79L

Vigilance officers on Tuesday caught Angul district’s caught Chhendipada Forest Range Officer Manamohan Swain carrying Rs 2,79,000 collected as illegal gratification from different sources. The officers intercepted him at 6.30 at Mundali bridge on Cuttack city outskirts while he was proceeding from Chhendipada to Bhubaneswar via Athagarh Mundali Road in a private Bolero vehicle. Swain could not account for the amount found in the vehicle. 

Swain’s office and Government quarter at Chhendipada, building at Khandiabandha under Dharmasala PS in Jajpur district and his residential rented house at Balangir town were searched, simultaneously. During search, Rs 50,000 was also seized from his official quarter at Chhendipada. The search operation was still on, informed an official release.
