Chelsea make transfer decision on Jeremie Boga
by Metro Sport ReporterChelsea have decided not to take up the option to bring Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga back to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to reports.
The Blues included a buy-black clause of around £13 million when they sold the 23-year-old to the Serie A club in 2018.
Boga has started to realise his potential in Italy, registering eight goals and two assists in 24 league appearances this campaign.
However, according to The Guardian, Chelsea will not bring the forward back to west London, and have instead decided to renegotiate a new sell-on clause with Sassuolo for a percentage of his future transfer fee.
Boga looks set to depart from the Italian club this summer, with Napoli interested in acquiring his services.
The Ivory Coast international graduated from Chelsea’s academy in 2015, but only made one senior appearance for the first team.
Boga was considered a highly-rated prospect, but was far behind the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro under Jose Mourinho.
Serie A is planning to resume next month, with Italy’s minister for sport Vincenzo Spadafora revealing on Sunday that a return date of June 13 or 20 could be made possible.
Germany’s Bundesliga was the first major European league to return to action on May 16.
The Premier League has also been given the green light to come back in June, but the initially proposed date of June 12 may come too soon.
