Hundreds of Gold Coast homes experiencing power outage

Hundreds of Gold Coast homes are without power this morning, after an outage towards the southern end of the coast.

Over 1,300 residences have been affected, across the suburbs of Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters and Varsity Lakes.

Energex reported the outage just after 8.00am, saying the cause is still under investigation.

Around 50 streets have been affected, including Bermuda Street and Christine Avenue.

Traffic lights are also flashing at the intersection of Christine Avenue and Mattocks Road in all directions.

Works are underway to restore power.
