NBA legend Patrick Ewing has been discharged from hospital and is now recovering from COVID-19 at home.

The Hall of Famer and Georgetown University coach revealed at the weekend that he'd tested positive for the coronavirus and was being treated at a local hospital.

Ewing enjoyed a 17 year playing career in the NBA, primarily with the New York Knicks, where he scored almost 25,000 points and he also won Olympic gold medals on the USA teams in 1984 and 1992.

On Friday, the 57-year-old revealed his diagnosis and urged everyone to stay same during the pandemic.

"I want to thank all of the doctors and hospital staff for taking care of my father during his stay, as well as everyone who has reached out with thoughts and prayers to us and since his diagnosis," Patrick Ewing Junior tweeted of his return home tonight.

"My father is now home and getting better. We'll continue to watch his symptoms and follow the CDC guidelines. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and protect yourselves and your loved ones."
