EIGHT YEARS ON
Mum of missing Scots sailor Timmy MacColl accuses Royal Navy of covering up his disappearance
by Normal SilvesterTHE mum of missing sailor Timmy MacColl has accused the Royal Navy of covering up his disappearance eight years ago.
Sheena MacColl, 57, reckons her son “came to harm” during shore leave in Dubai.
The shattered shop assistant is now demanding a fresh probe, claiming Navy top brass and cops in the United Arab Emirates know what actually happened.
Sheena, of Killin, Stirlingshire, said: “I think Timmy came to harm and he’s been assaulted.
“It’s been covered up by the authorities. At the time I felt the Royal Navy just wanted shot of the case and were only going through the motions.
"Both they and Dubai Police certainly know more than they are letting on.
“Eight years later we want answers and no one can give us any.
“I’d like to see a fresh investigation. All I’m asking for is the truth.”
Timmy, 27, was last seen getting in a taxi heading to Port Rashid at 1.40am on May 27, 2012.
The dad of three and Leading Seaman on HMS Westminster was declared dead — presumed drowned — by the Navy in 2014 despite his family’s objections.
The Royal Navy said there was a “full and proper investigation”.
A spokesman added: “No new information has come to light."
Dubai Police did not respond to our request for comment.
