Snowpiercer star says unaired pilot episode was 'completely different'
by George GriffithsSnowpiercer’s un-aired pilot episode was apparently ‘completely different’ from what we can now see on screen, according to one of its stars.
Now a TV series, it was originally a 2013 film by Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, which starred Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton.
Before the show debuted, however, it underwent major changes behind-the-scenes, where original showrunner Josh Friedman was replaced with Orphan Black creator Graeme Harper, and the show underwent reshoots.
Now, according to actress Annalise Basso revealed that her character in the new edition of the show is ‘completely different.’
She told Radio Times: ‘My character changed a lot from the pilot to Snowpiercer 2.0.
‘They’re two completely different characters.’
Annalise also opened up about the filming conditions of the show – where some of the cast were filmed in metal cages.
Talking to Digital Spy, she explained: ‘Being in such a contained environment and having the set department and art department create such a real world.
‘It did create a very claustrophobic environment that I think helped bring some sincerity to these moments.’
The star continued: ‘It’s just a chaotic show and every character is dealing with this life in a metal cage, and I think having that environment being manufactured with the set design really helped.’
Today, Netflix dropped the first two episodes of Snowpiercer, with the rest following weekly every Monday.
Snowpiercer is available to stream via Netflix, with new episodes dropping every Monday.
