Liverpool restaurant delivering 1,000 curries every week on lockdown

Coronavirus lockdown may have changed many things, but luckily we still have the option of a good takeaway.

Since we’ve been stuck at home, restaurants across Liverpool have adapted to the crisis and launched delivery services to bring some of our favourite meals to us.

One of Liverpool’s most popular restaurants, EastZEast on King’s Dock, introduced its delivery service three weeks ago and has been serving 1,000 curries a week since.

Ashfaq Hussain, owner of EastZEast, said: “We are so excited to be up and running again, providing delicious, traditional Punjabi food for people across the city in their homes, including some famous faces such as Liverpool FC legend John Barnes and boxer Tony Bellew, who both regularly order from us.

“We were met with incredible demand to start a delivery service, so we have worked tirelessly to make our entire operation safe and efficient for our staff and customers and we’re now able to provide at-home diners with options from our full menu, seven days a week.”

EastZEast is also using the time on lockdown to give the restaurant a complete makeover too.

Ashfaq added: “Aside from working to improve our delivery service, we’ve also used this time to give EastZEast a new lease of life as we prepare to celebrate its tenth birthday this summer.

“Providing a unique and memorable dining experience is so important to us and we can’t wait to show off our new setting as soon as we’re able to invite guests back into the restaurant.

“We are confident that we will be able to celebrate with our customers - both longstanding and new come August.”

In line with current government guidelines, the restaurant is now delivering to Liverpool postcodes within a six-mile radius of its dockside location and is offering NHS workers 20% off their order available through its website .

Ashfaq said: “We felt like it was only right for us to give something back to our dedicated and hardworking NHS staff so we’re providing them with a discount on every order.

“We hope that our food will be able to bring joy to people’s lives whether they are looking for a mid-week pick-me-up or celebrating a special occasion in their household, such as a birthday or anniversary.

“There’s no doubt that the past few months have been difficult for Liverpool’s food and drink sector, but we are optimistic about the future.

“We are incredibly proud of our team who have been able to carry on delivering dishes directly to people’s homes, but we can’t wait to open our doors once more and welcome those that have remained so loyal and supportive of us at this time into our new-look restaurant.”
