Manchester United have enquired over a double swoop for Juventus stars Douglas Costa and Merih Demiral - according to reports in Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his attack in the upcoming transfer window and M.E.N. Sport understand the Norwegian is prioritising the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

However, reports in Italy claim that United have identified Costa, 28, as a potential alternative to the England international. The winger joined Juve on loan in 2017 from Bayern Munich before the Serie A champions made his stay in Italy permanent for a fee of £36million.

M.E.N. Sport understood Costa was identified by former United boss Jose Mourinho as a possible option to bolster his attacking options back in 2018. Sir Alex Ferguson had attempted to sign the Brazilian as a teenager during his time with Gremio almost 10 years prior.

The 29-year-old has made 14 appearances in the Serie A this season but has failed to find the back of the net once. Nevertheless, Tuttosport claim United have enquired over his availability but have no interest in including Costa in any deal for Paul Pogba.

Furthermore, the same report adds that defender Merih Demiral is also of interest to the Reds after showing glimpses of quality following his move from Sassuolo.

Costa does not fit the profile of player Solskjaer is looking to bring to Old Trafford and M.E.N. Sport understand the United boss is happy with his options in defence meaning a move for Demiral is also unlikely.

Elsewhere, United have been named as one of 12 clubs who are interested in signing Wolves forward Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican has netted 22 goals in all competitions this season and has been linked with an exit from Molineux.

Speculation over a switch to Old Trafford started in January though Solskjaer refused to comment on the rumours.

Tuttosport believe Jimenez remains of interest to United but claim Wolves will not sell their star forward for anything less than £53million.

MEN Sport understand the forward is not a priority target for the Reds.
