This Shavuos is truly different than any we have experienced. The world has slowly begun to ease restrictions, as we nervously tread back out into the open air and the shuls we have so missed. As we prepare to be mekabel the Torah, we come in with new wisdom & a new understanding of the world around us. It is a deeply spiritual holiday, a day when each minute holds the potential for tremendous prayer and connection. Few know the extent of this more deeply than the ‘Sar HaTorah’ Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
Rav Kanievsky is famous for being immersed in learning Torah at all times. He awakes extremely early in the morning to begin his learning, and continues at every moment possible until the end of the day. The learning of Torah on Shavuos is particularly meaningful, as we connect to the power of Matan Torah itself. It is in this context that it is particularly remarkable that the Rav will be dedicating precious moments of his Shavuos to praying for an exclusive list of individuals.
These individuals are those who donate to help the poor families who rely on Vaad HaRabbanim for help. Rav Kanievsky also extends his blessing to all who join him in this effort, that they should merit to have nachas from their children, and success in finances.
As we reassess our priorities, and question what we have learned from the pandemic, we must ask ourselves: Have we learned the importance of giving charity? Have we connected ourselves to the talmidei chachamim of this generation? These are concepts vital to the reception of the Torah, and you can connect to them now, by helping families who desperately need you.
